Mr. Iwano is currently Director and Co-Owner at Materials Research & Design (MR&D), a small business located in Wayne, PA which provides design and analysis services to the advanced materials community. In his current capacity, he is responsible for managing numerous programs, generating new business through writing proposals and interacting with current and prospective customers including government contractors, material fabricators and Prime vehicle integrators. Mr. Iwano’s technical experience focuses on complex structures for extreme environment applications including ceramic matrix composite control surfaces, vehicle thermal protection systems (TPS), small and large-scale propulsion and missile components, structural insulators and impact resistant CMCs. Tasks on these and other programs involve the development of finite element models, performing static and transient finite element analyses (thermal, structural, combined, dynamic, impact, etc), estimating thermo-elastic composite material properties, creation of design drawings, and the development of verification test plans.
Mr. Iwano holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, both from Villanova University. He has presented numerous papers at various technical conferences including the Annual Conference on Composites, Materials, and Structures and the National Space and Missile Materials Symposium.
