Shay Harrison

Dr. Harrison has been a team member at Free Form Fibers (FFF) for nearly 12 years, with 15+ years experience in laser-driven chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) technology including his doctoral research on joining of silicon carbide components using LCVD. He started at FFF as the senior materials scientist and then served as the COO for a year prior to assuming the company leadership role in September, 2020. He has a B.S. in material science & engineering with a double major in English from Rice University (1994) and a Ph.D. in materials science from the University of Connecticut at Storrs (1999).

Dr. Harrison has spent over 20 years working with high performance materials systems in various industrial R&D roles, including at Delphi Automotive, Blasch Precision Ceramics, and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, and is an author/co-author on a dozen patents and a similar number of publications.
