Advanced Ceramics Association (USACA) Supports Aeronautics Innovation Act
June 16, 2016

The United States Advanced Ceramics Association (USACA) supports the Aeronautics Innovation Act, a bill introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday, June 14th by Representative Steve Knight of California. The bill establishes long-term goals, enables greater interagency cooperation, and directs Congress to commit funding to the study, design, and manufacturing of advanced aircraft.
The bill calls for more full-scale experimental aerospace plane and systems programs at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and includes provisions to strengthen hypersonics programs across the federal government. Advanced ceramic materials are critical for aerostructure and propulsion applications on hypersonic vehicles. Technology advancements resulting from the new programs established through the Aeronautics Innovation Act will help maintain U.S. global leadership in the advanced ceramics industry.
USACA Chairman, Mike Peretti, said, “USACA looks forward to working with Mr. Knight to advance the Aeronautics Innovation Act in Congress. We appreciate Mr. Knight’s leadership on hypersonics, which is a very important technology area for the ceramics industry in the United States.”
The bill currently waits for assignment to committee. When passed into law, the legislation will help create and sustain many technical jobs in the ceramics and aerospace industries, and accelerate break-through advancements in hypersonics for national defense.
