About USACA

About USACA

USACA is the premier association that champions the common business interests of the advanced ceramic producer and end-user industries.

USACA was formed in 1985 to facilitate the commercialization of the United States’ advanced ceramics industry and quickly became the leading voice of the advanced ceramics industry before the U.S. Congress and federal agencies.

USACA recognizes that the key to the industry’s survival is the identification of new commercial market opportunities for advanced ceramics.

USACA has a long-standing commitment to promoting the use of advanced ceramics as the foundation for a new generation of high-efficiency and high-performance products for surface transportation, aerospace, defense, energy, and industrial applications.

Working Groups

USACA functions through working groups led by USACA members.  Working groups meet frequently by telecom and in person to accomplish objectives.  USACA establishes working groups on an as needed basis.

Current active working groups include:

The Ceramic Fiber and CMC Manufacturing working group supports and provides guidance to government and industry investment to establish domestic production of silicon carbide ceramic fiber for CMCs, and for improvements to CMC manufacturing processes.

The Nuclear Ceramics working group supports and provides guidance to government and industry investment in advanced ceramics for nuclear energy applications, particularly ceramic cladding for accident tolerant fuels.

The Transparent Armor working group supports and provides guidance to government and industry investment to lower the cost and improve performance of transparent ceramics for armor and sensor window applications.

The Workforce Development working group enhances communication and fosters collaboration among industry, academia, and government stakeholders supporting recruitment and training efforts in fields enabled by advanced ceramics and composite materials technologies.
